HELIUS ANNOUNCES NEW STATUS AS AN AUTHORIZED RESELLER OF HUGHES' DIRECPC SERVICES

Premier Provider of Satellite-based Data/Internet Access to Continue as a Value-Added Reseller of DirecPC Products

OREM, UTAH – June 9, 1999 – Helius, Inc., innovator of the first software to manage Internet transmissions from satellites to local area networks, announced today that it has achieved status as an authorized reseller of Hughes DirecPC services. In March, Helius released the Helius Satellite Router, which delivers DirecPC service through an all-in-one interface featuring Helius Optimized™ software and Virtual Technician (SM) remote service. Helius will continue in its role as value-added reseller of DirecPC products.

Reselling the Hughes DirecPC satellite service will mean ease and simplification for Helius customers. Helius has been selling its products to the K-12 education and small- to medium-sized business markets for nearly three years.

"Helius' selling the Hughes' DirecPC service means business can be transacted more efficiently. Customers can purchase hardware, software and service from Helius with one call," states Myron Mosbarger, president of Helius. "This makes sense for our customers and for Helius. We look at this as a great step forward in expanding our existing position in the satellite-based data/Internet access market."

The Helius Satellite Router is a network appliance that delivers the Hughes satellite service through version 2.2 of Helius' Network Edition for DirecPC. Helius continues to develop software for the DirecPC service platform to create high efficiency versions for use in network environments. All Helius versions run on Windows NT, Novell NetWare and Linux and include Helius Optimized™ technology which has been lab tested to increase throughput of the DirecPC service 200 to 400 percent.

The Helius Virtual Technician (SM) service provides no-hassle setup–the router can be installed worldwide and configured and maintained from Helius' offices in the United States. Virtual Technician support is included free for 90 days. Extended support agreements, including automatic software upgrades, are available for a small additional cost.

Dan Broadbent, vice president of marketing for Helius, states, "It is not enough to provide great technology. How you take care of the customer ultimately determines whether or not a service is successful. The Virtual Technician service gives us the unique capability to provide our customers the best data- and Internet-over-satellite experience."

Helius data-over-satellite products are available throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and in all locations served by DirecPC.
