HELIUS AND BROADLOGIC SETTLE PATENT INFRIGEMENT LITIGATION
LINDON, Utah October 24, 2001 Helius, Inc. and BroadLogic
Networking Technologies, Inc. announced today that they have reached a
settlement of Helius patent infringement lawsuit against BroadLogic.
Helius sued BroadLogic asserting that BroadLogic XR1/GW product
infringed Helius U.S. Patent No.6,205,473 B1, "Method and System
for Asymmetric Satellite Communications for Local Area Networks."
Such a patent is presumed to be valid.
"As result of the settlement, BroadLogic has agreed to take a royalty
bearing license under Helius patent," said Myron Mosbarger,
President and CEO of Helius, Inc.
"Broadlogic has developed a leadership position in the satellite
industry and we are pleased to have reached an agreement with Helius,"
said Tony Francesca, President and CEO of BroadLogic Networking Technologies,
Inc.
BroadLogic believes the acquisition of this license will enable BroadLogic
to continue to develop and serve its XR1/GW product customer base. The
remaining terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
