LINDON, Utah - July 23, 2002 - Helius Inc., the premier developer of technology solutions for seamless broadband communication over satellite and local area networks, today announced the availability of the Helius IP Encoder.

The Helius IP Encoder offers a mid-tier solution for businesses, schools and corporations that want to incorporate multicasting services on local area networks. The encoder converts audio and video from sources such as DVD players, VCRs, or cameras into MPEG1 or MPEG2 format and encodes it into IP packets that can be fully routed across standard local area networks.

The Helius IP Encoder runs SAP (Service Advertising Protocol), a feature normally found on high-end products. SAP allows network clients to view the available video stream. As bandwidth is a critical component of any network, the Helius IP Encoder is configurable to MPEG1 stream speeds as low 64Kbps.
