Helius Announces Next Generation MediaGate Router Platform

New Models Add MPEG4 and High Definition Support for Digital Signage and Distance Learning Markets

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK—October 26, 2004—Helius, Inc. the worldwide leader in business class data broadcasting solutions, today announced the next generation of Helius’ MediaGate routers which includes an upgrade to the industry leading Helius MediaGate 2500 Router and the introduction of two new models. The new models expand the Helius offering to include solutions for one-way satellite, two-way VSAT, ATSC, cable, DSL and other hybrid network environments.

“The G4 models are going to revolutionize the way customers think about moving data from headquarters to end points. The Helius MediaGate Router will continue to support MPEG1 and MPEG2 video decode and playback, with the new generation offering support for MPEG4 and high definition (HD) video. As the use of Digital Signage technology increases in popularity, the requirement to support MPEG4 and High Definition is accelerating. Further, distance learning applications are requiring an increased level of video detail requiring MPEG4 and HD picture quality, while the use and utilization of bandwidth can be maximized with the inclusion of MPEG4 support.

The next generation lineup will include the Helius MediaGate 750 Router, the Helius MediaGate 1550 Router and the Helius MediaGate 2550 Router. Each model will include the broad suite of Helius’ patented Receiver and Router technologies, along with robust application server functionality. Customer availability of the G4 line is Q1 2005. Existing customers who have purchased maintenance contracts will be given the option to upgrade their existing MediaGate Routers to the new G4 for a nominal hardware charge.
